Apple Music won’t play songs? Here’s what to do

If you’ve installed Apple Music on your iPhone, iPad, Mac, or PC, you’ve probably discovered that it can be really frustrating. The service, which offers music streaming and offline downloads, often fails at playing songs that it should be able to play. This is especially true if you’re listening to music from iTunes.

Apple Music is a cool service that lets you listen to all of the music you want, but it has a few bugs that can be frustrating. For example, Apple Music won’t play songs if you’ve updated to the latest version of iOS, and there’s no way to download music to your iPhone or iPad. Don’t worry, though. We can help.

We’ve all been there: You’re sitting alone in your room, perhaps reading a book or watching a movie, when suddenly, you hit play on your computer’s iTunes app and a song you really like comes on. You dance and sing along for a few minutes (or maybe just a few seconds…) and then—nothing. The song stops and you’re left wondering what happened.

The first thing we expect from Apple Music is, of course, music playback. But unfortunately that is not always the case. In fact, many users report that Apple Music simply won’t play their songs. If you are one of these users (and I assume you are since you are reading this article), we have compiled a list of simple solutions for you. Try these workarounds and hopefully you’ll soon be able to listen to music on your iPhone again. Table of contents :

  8. Check content restrictions

Apple Music does not play any tracks

1.  Checking internet connection

Unless you want to listen to a song you’ve already downloaded, Apple Music requires an internet connection to work. So make sure you are well connected to the Wi-Fi network or at least have mobile data enabled. If you notice something is wrong with your internet connection, check out some of the solutions in this article. Talk about cellular data: You must first allow Apple Music to use it to stream songs and other activities. If Apple Music is not allowed to use cellular data and you are not properly connected to a Wi-Fi network, it will not be able to play songs. Here’s how to allow Apple Music to use cellular data:

  1. Go to Settings.
  2. Scroll down and open Music.
  3. Touch Cellular data.

  1. Make sure Cellular data and Streaming are enabled.

Now that you’ve enabled Apple Music to use mobile data, you can stream songs even when you’re not connected to a Wi-Fi network. Pay attention to your usage, because streaming uses a part of your data. It won’t be radical, but it’s still worth paying attention to.

2. Apple Music forced shutdown / iPhone restart

Sometimes a simple action like restarting the iPhone or the application itself can solve the problem. And that’s what you need to do before you try to do anything more radical. First, let’s restart Apple Music. Just swipe up from the bottom of the screen and the task manager appears. Find Apple Music and swipe up to close the application. Open the application again and check if the problem persists. If restarting the application does not work, restart the phone. To restart the iPhone, simultaneously press the Page+Volume Downkeys until thePower Offslider appears. Slide the slider to the right and your iPhone will turn off.

3. Check subscription and region

I know it sounds crazy, but make sure you’re still subscribed to Apple Music. You may have cancelled your subscription by mistake, or the person managing the family account to which you belong may have cancelled their subscription. Or your credit card was declined on the last payment. Changing the region of your account may also affect your subscription. This is especially true for non-US users. For example, if you change your region to a country that does not support Apple Music, your subscription will no longer be valid. So make sure your subscription and your region are synchronized.

4. iPhone Update

Updating iOS is no easy task. Most of them improve your phone or introduce new features. However, some updates can do more harm than good. Since Apple Music is a first-party app, it may become obsolete with a certain update. If you think this might be the case, you should look out for new updates because Apple will surely fix this issue in the next version. If there is no new update and you can’t wait for it, you can search online for a possible solution. Although your success may be questionable, especially if the problem is internal.

5. Sign out from your Apple ID

If you log out and log in with your Apple ID, you can re-sync your iPhone with your iTunes library, which could eventually lead to a solution to the Apple Music problem. Here’s what you need to do:

  1. Go to Settings.
  2. Press your name and go to Exit.
  3. Enter your Apple ID password and tap Disable.
  4. A window appears asking you what data you want to copy from your iCloud account to your phone. Please note that this operation may delete some data from your phone. Read the instructions on this page carefully.

  1. If you want to save, click Finish.
  2. After you sign out, go back to Settings and sign in to your iPhone.
  3. Enter your information, click Next, enter your password, and you are back in the system.

6. Downloading Apple Music

If none of the above solutions solve the problem, you can try unloading the application. The advantage of this approach is that you can remove the main application from iPhone without erasing the data. That way, if you reinstall the application, all your settings will be preserved and you won’t have to start from scratch. Find out how to download Apple Music here:

  1. Go to Settings.
  2. Go to the General > iPhone Storage menu.
  3. Scroll down the page until you find the Music section.

  1. Tap the Google Photos app and go toappunload .
  2. PressApplication dischargeto confirm.

Apple Music does not play explicit songs

One of the strangest problems with Apple Music is the ban on explicit songs. At the moment I cannot tell you what the cause is, because I have not been able to find the origin of this problem. I found the solution. And I can confirm that it works, because it solved the problem for me. I also added a few additional workarounds at the beginning, because people also reported that these workarounds were useful. I hope one of them fits you.

1. Play an explicit podcast

The solution that helped me was to listen to an explicit podcast. Just go to the Podcasts app, find the explicit podcast (with an E next to the name) and play it. Once you have successfully played a podcast, go to Music and try to play an explicit song. The title should now read without any problems.

2. Check content restrictions

Another reason why Apple Music can’t play explicit songs is that certain restrictions apply. Here’s how to check for these limitations:

  1. Go to Settings.
  2. Go to Screen time > Content and privacy restrictions.
  3. Go to content restrictions.

  1. Free music, podcasts, news and training.
  2. Choose Explicit.

3. Switching to iTunes

If the workaround didn’t work for podcasts, try the same thing in iTunes. Open iTunes on your PC/Mac and try playing an explicit podcast or song. A pop-up message appears to inform you that explicit content is being played. Just press the Confirm button and the song will play. Now go back to Apple Music on your phone and see if the problem is fixed. And we can stop for the day. Apple Music, like most other online music streaming services, lets you pick the songs you want to listen to. However, sometimes it’s not that simple. How do I fix my Apple music glitch?

You know that feeling when your Apple Music stops working? It’s a nightmare, especially if you’re on a long road trip without reliable data. Thankfully, there are some quick fixes you can try to get things running smoothly again. First, try shutting down your device and restarting it. If that doesn’t do the trick, you can make sure that Apple Music is set as a default app by going to Settings -> Music and switching the “Use Apple Music” toggle on. When Apple Music debuted, the service set out to differentiate itself from competitors like Spotify by automatically putting every song you ever bought from iTunes into your library, regardless of whether you wanted it there. This was a convenient way to avoid having to manually upload your music library, but it also meant that occasionally, the system would get confused and add songs you didn’t ask for. As we mentioned before, this is a surprisingly common problem, and it can be fixed with a few simple steps.
